Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord (page in progress)

DESCRIPTION

Since Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord has already been released, my contribution mostly evolves around troubleshooting network-related gameplay issues and logic failures.

​

Coming from a Unity background, I first familiarised myself with Unreal’s C++ and debugging tools. It was a challenge getting used to reading code that has been developed over 3 years, but in time it has become more and more intuitive and faster.

I was eager to apply and extend my network programming knowledge in this professional context. Besides my assigned tasks, I would often use our JIRA space to check out network-related bugs and ask my mentor if he could assign me some of his tasks.

Some of the improvements I've worked on include:

  • Client mispredictions causing a rubberbanding effect on low ping (see gif).

  • Session-join issues,

  • Gameplay logic failures for late joiners.
